I started this blog to share my experiences of creating the multi-media websearch, Go Ulverston. I am about 2 and a half months into it now, and have about 650 listings from the Ulverston area.
www.goulverston.co.uk was created for loads of reasons:
to create a one stop and user friendly directory of everything to be found in and around town
to encourage people to shop locally, by really promoting local traders in an exciting new way, not just a boring listing of names and addresses. Carbon footprints and all that...........
to network between traders, and let people know about each other
to offer really fab web presence, with mini sites that come alive with the personalities of the traders
to offer affordable multi-media ads that all go to the top of Google. Hey, how many of us have been stung with huge bills for sites that have not gone anywhere?
to create a really comprehensive directory of activities for children, and other events in the community. (There are so many activities that go on in Ulverston, and many of them are really hard to find)
to create photo galleries of some of the colourful events
to help people benefit from the internet, instead of losing out because of the increasing e-commerce. 1 in 3 shopping online now...
to try create a site that is like a users guide to Ulverston for newcommers and tourists and even locals! I have been amazed at what is around that I didn't know about!
Well, there is more, but you get the drift. Anyway, this blog is about all the people and the businesses, local events, and topical stuff that I explore as I'm out and about in town along the way.
